Randa and Algaida
Randa is the village on the hill overlooking central Mallorca, with the "giant lollipop" radar mast overlooking the airport. There is a monastery on the summit. It is a testing 6km climb, winding its way around the lone peak, and a good test of your ability, rewarded with fine views in all directions.
Sadly, the usually busy restaurant on the summit is not one of Mallorca's best, however that is compensated by the fine restaurants we have discovered in Algaida and in Montuiri.
The maturing sausage collection at Ca'l Dimoni is a sight to behold, hanging from the main dining hall roof rafters. (And the toilets are styled on Goldfinger's Lair, Mr. Bond... Worthy a visit in their own right!)
