Welcome to Stretford Wheelers Cycling Club (founded 1920)
Some brief information about Stretford Wheelers
We are a group of individuals keen on cycling from competetive or just getting out there and having fun cycling and socialising.
We are a friendly bunch and whatever you are after from your cycling there will be someone similar in the club. We cater for the serous competion cyclist, social cyclist who may just want to go out on a Sunday and explore the Cheshire countryside or you may be new to cycling and are not sure what you want to do except cycle with other likeminded people. There are a number of seasoned experienced cyclist in the club who have been cycling for many many years but the key thing is we welcome all.
We are often joined by members from other clubs, on local runs and also trips abroad.
We do arrange trips a bit further afield, example this year Majorca, twice and Zel in Germany.
Annual club events include 10 and 25 mile time trials, hill climb and the annual dinner dance and award presentation, held at Davyhulme golf club, your welcome to join us for the evening if you wish tickets are on sale for £30 for a full Christmas meal and disco.
There is a wealth of experience to be found, within our membership, from bikes to competion advice. Some of our members act as officials for events like the Olympics, Para Olympics, and local/regional organized events.
Where we meet
We meet socially every Friday night 9.00pm at Urmston Cricket & Lawn Tennis Club.
The Sunday run usually departs from the Green Dragon in Heatley near Lymm or occasionally Dane Road in Sale.
What happens on a Sunday?
Usually we split up into 3 groups Fast, medium and the more relaxed depending on your ability. If you’re not sure which group to join someone will advise but don’t worry we never leave anyone behind.
A typical Sunday run
